Posted by Akhil Pulotil Posted on Friday, January 25, 2013

Hi There !!
Before Starting, Let me tell you what happened with me few days ago :

Few days ago, suddenly I started seeing ads on both the sides of my Facebook wall, and I was surprised !!

Then yesterday, I started seeing ads in Google homepage and Blogger homepage. Then I felt that something had happened with my PC/Browser.
The ads was from the source "Browse 2 Save". But I couldn't find an advertisement platform like that.So I scanned my PC, nothing was suspicious and still it was there.

Suddenly, I noticed a new Extension automatically installed in my browser. I removed the extension and all went fine again ......!

If you read the incident above, you have noticed that the extension got automatically installed into my browser !!

How is it possible ?

After few readings, I found out that these types of infections are called Adware !

What Is An Adware ?

Well,
according to my words,
An Adware is an infection to your computer browser that automatically inserts ads to your browser without your knowledge or permission. The inserted ads may pop anywhere and might disturb your online browsing.

Is An Adware Harmful ?

I don't know whether it affects your PC, but as I said earlier, it automatically inserts ads in to your browser. You'll find ads in almost all sites your visiting, like Facebook,Google etc.

How To Remove or Scan For Adwares ?

Once you find ads in sites where it was not found earlier, or you find ads in between texts, then your browser must have automatically installed an Adware.
To remove the Adware, you can follow this methods :

Method 1 :

  • Check out EXTENSIONS under SETTINGS in Google Chrome. If you find any extra extensions other than you installed, immediately uninstall it.
  • If your using Mozilla Firefox, check out the ADD-ONS section and remove any suspicious add-on.

Method 2 :

  • Install any trusted Adware Scanner to your PC. So that it either prevents or warns you when an Adware tries to automatically install.

I have been through this situation, and I thought I could help others too !!
