There is no doubt that interlinking is an efficient SEO tactic. There are some great benefits of internal links, provided you do it the right way.

Some people know less about interlinking, and therefore make some mistakes while interlinking their blog posts. There is no harm in doing so, but by making these small mistakes, your blog gets no benefit in interlinking too !

So if you're confused on how to effectively interlink your blog posts, then we are here to help you. As today, we will be discussing about 5 effective interlinking tips for your blog !

1. Never Use "No-Follow" Tags While Interlinking:

The basic concept of interlinking, is to pass the Pagerank juice to the inner pages of your blog posts. So even if some of your inner pages get un-noticed by google bots, interlinking can help these boys find hidden pages too !

By giving "No-Follow" attribute to internal links, you're wasting the chance of getting high PR ranks for your inner pages. Therefore, if you're linking to any webpage on your own site, then don't add "No-Follow" attribute.

2. Use Keywords As Anchor-Text While Interlinking Your Blog Posts:

Mostly, webmasters use words like "Click Here" etc., even while linking to internal pages. This is because, they wanted readers to know that this is a clickable link.

But instead, you can add keywords as anchor-text instead of words like "Click Here" while interlinking your blog posts. This will surely help to increase the blog post's ranking for the specific keyword.

For people to notice those links, you can change your link color, and keep colors like red or blue etc., to highlight only links in the post body

3. Link To Relevant Blog Posts Only:

This is a simple yet effective tip. Linking to relevant or related articles, will surely increase page views to the linked article too.

For example, now this article is about interlinking. A few weeks back, I have published yet another blog post on "How To Use Internal Links To Enhance SEO?"

I have linked the above post because it is relevant to my current article, and readers who comes solely to read on Interlinking will surely click and read the above article too!

This will help me get some views to that blog post, without separately promoting it ! :-D

4. Don't Stuff Your Blog Posts With Interlinks:

Everything has a limit. So does Interlinks !

Neither your readers, nor the Search Engine will like a blog post with less word count, but more links. So in order to keep your blog on the safe side, limit the number of links in a blog post.

You can comfortably add around 5 interlinks for a blog post of 1000+ words. But if the word count of your blog post is low, then reduce the number of interlinks too !

5. Dig Deeper And Link Deeper:

People with over 100 published posts in their blog find it difficult to find relevant blog posts to interlink. And what they do is that they keep linking to their recently published blog posts.

Digging deeper and finding old dusted blog posts, then interlinking them on your newer articles can surely help get some pageviews to those older articles [as I said before]. Also, it will surely prevent those old posts from losing it's Pagerank and SERP.

Final Words:

Interlinking is not any SEO mystery. The most common fact is that, people are too lazy to dig through all the posts in their blog and then to link them accordingly :P

But if you do internal linking by avoiding all the negative aspects, then surely it will help you to increase Google Pagerank and SERP of your internal pages !
